July 2011. At the Defcon conference in Las Vegas, SeNet’s CTO presented at the conference on security vulnerabilities in online poker.  Online poker is a multi-million dollar industry that is rapidly growing but is not highly regulated. There have been "hacks" recently (i.e., weak SSL implementation, superuser account) that have drawn more attention to security in the poker industry, especially as it moves to full regulation in the United States. This talk covered the technical architecture of online poker, existing security controls, examples of past vulnerabilities, new weaknesses we have discovered in the poker clients and surrounding infrastructure, and next steps of research we are performing in this area.  Use this link for more information.

July 2011. On July 19th, Gus Fritschie, SeNet’s CTO, presented a paper at the USDA Security Conference in Washington, DC.  The presentation was titled “Protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Using Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) Technologies.”  The talk covered  attack vectors used to obtain PII, methods to protect PII, and an overview of how DLP can be used as part of the continuous monitoring phase in the risk management framework.  Our industry partner Safend was also present at the conference.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss DLP technologies, please contact Mr. Fritschie.
